What does it mean to ‘please God’? Does it mean to be giving? Patient? Kind?
Pleasing God is not just about giving, because many people give with expectations of something in return. This does not please God.
Pleasing God is not just about Patience. Many murderers are patient as they plot and wait for the opportunity to kill their victim.
Pleasing God is not just about being kind. Many people act kind even when being passive-aggressive and with their attempts to “kill you with kindness”.
What pleases God? It seems to me the key to pleasing God lies not within what you do or how you act… but lies within your heart. It is within the heart where the pure loving motivation within us resides. It is Love that is pleasing to God.

It’s a good thing I’m not paranoid or I’d quit being (or trying to be) patient lest someone think I am plotting to kill them. ;o)
But, correct me if I’m wrong, the kindness and patience already reside within love, according to the bible:
1 Corinthians 13:4 states it outright…….. “Love is patient, love is kind; It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.”

Yes, but sometimes we think we are being loving by being patient, kind, honest… but once we examine our hearts and motivations behind those actions we are sometimes being anything but! Behaving kindly and being patient does not necessarily mean you ARE behaving with LOVE… that is the distinction I am trying to make with this little post. It’s within our heart-felt motivations that true love resides. This love is patient, kind, etc. just as the beautiful Bible verse you shared describes! (One of my faves btw!) I really enjoy your comments! Thanks for leaving another good one! ❤️Ann

I get what you are saying and I’m agreeing by expressing that verse. 😛 If you have love first, the patience and kindness flow from that. If you aim for patience and kindness first, your motivation is questionable.
