Not Just A Blonde

We are "Not Just" who we seem to be on this Earthly plane, but so much more. We are ALL children of a loving God who is calling us home to Love. This blog is dedicated to those of us on that journey together…

For those of you just getting to know me… I’m all about loving everyone as we are ALL equally loved in God’s heart… Including our lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender brothers and sisters! God has a plan and a purpose for each of us… And within that plan for me is to reach out to the LGBT community to let them know God loves them AS THEY ARE! Below are my most affirming blog links regarding my thoughts and my heart on this topic, please read and (respectfully) respond as your (kind)thoughts are always welcome!

  1. John says:

Seems to me that ‘Love’ is the mantra these days in America and those who raise up the issue of God stress God’s Love but what is left out is justice and judgement because there is something called sin. Seems to me the Christian church has been seduced to only cling to God’s love and throw away the wrath of God and it is particularly evident when it comes to homosexuality. For even in the bible it is very blatant that homosexuality is a sexual abomination but that is pushed to the side in favor of love, acceptance and equality. How balanced is that when it comes to the nature of God?

    1. Dear John, there are plenty of verses that emphasize God is the judge. As I live to please Him and listen to His Spirit it seems clear to me that Jesus calls us to love above all things. We are reminded again and again not to judge but to love… even our enemies!

Regarding the issue of homosexuality as a sin that God abhors I only suggest we look at the thumper verses in Biblical historical context and remember that the word “homosexual” was not included in the Bible until just over a century ago. The Bible when re-read considering the original language as well as the pagans and hedonistic culture of the time is just not clear on the monogamous mutual love as shared by a same-sex couple as we know today.

I have decided to err on the side of Grace versus judgement on the issue of homosexuality. I also know there are many other behavioral sins that the majority of Christians commit without a second thought (Gluttony, gossip, etc.)!

There was a time when some used the Bible to justify the ‘sin’ of interracial relationships, the oppression of women as well as slave ownership. I merely suggest that we look at homosexuality remembering Christ’s message of the Love we should have for each-other when using the Bible to support our own values, fears and bigotry.

Thank you for your question and comment and if interested please read (and share) my other posts regarding this topic!
