Not Just A Blonde

We are "Not Just" who we seem to be on this Earthly plane, but so much more. We are ALL children of a loving God who is calling us home to Love. This blog is dedicated to those of us on that journey together…

I’m in healthcare so I feel obligated to show up for work. Plus, the owner of my clinic is a woman (and an incredibly awesome one at that)! So I will show up today wearing red to highlight the important presence of women in our society as leaders, caregivers, mothers, sisters, workers, and consumers. I proudly support National Womens Day to support all women of all races, religions, lifestyles and economic or social standing. We matter and we don’t need to be coy or overly polite as we remind the Nation and the World of just that. Love on ladies!

I showed up to work today because not being here wouldn’t make these guys anymore aware of my value than when I am here and I need the money. Women should be valued for their contribution to society and to family on a daily basis and those who don’t feel women have worth aren’t going to change their minds simply because we don’t show up for work or go shopping for one day. That would only fuel their feelings and they would say to themselves and each other, “See? You cannot rely on a woman to show up when she ought to.” I am, however, wearing a red shirt.

    1. I’m wearing red too! I did have to listen to a couple of older ladies go on and on about how ridiculous it all was. I had mixed feelings about it. On the one hand I can see how not showing up appears irresponsible but I would have thought they might have given “those young women” some grace understanding where our gender stood in society when they were the young ones. It kinda hurt my heart to hear all their negative bantering. I’m in the Midwest and sadly, this seems to be the common reaction to any demonstration towards equality.

I think we need to show respect for one another no matter what side we were on today. Respect has to come from within and among ourselves first and foremost. We know men are good at forgetting to respect us!!
