God, help me see what stuff is mine, see what stuff is theirs and to help me to carry my own stuff. Amen.
Helping someone with their stuff is good as long as we remember it is their stuff. I’m not talking material needs here, I’m talking Spiritual and Emotional. We can be empathetic without becoming codependent.
By taking someone’s troubles on as our own we sometimes (unintentionally perhaps) take away another’s power to heal or to help themselves. We are each ultimately responsible to do our own soul work. Even Jesus cannot save you unless you choose to be saved.
The choice is ours. Stop blaming others for your own fears, stress and anxieties. It is often our own choices that lead us to the circumstances of our troubles.
Passing out power over to others does nothing but hurt us in the end. Release your guilt… embrace your life. Take action in correcting your path. Realize: It’s YOUR stuff.
So don’t try and hand your stuff to another… God is the one who is going to give you strength and empower you to handle your stuff.
Others may help you sort it but you are gonna have to carry it. Accept what stuff is yours and go to God for help. He’s got your stuff all under control and He is there to help me with mine.
God is there to help… but it’s up to us to listen and take action and responsibility for our own stuff.
